Meet the Doctor
Optometrist
Rebecca Maida, O.D.
Rebecca Maida's name may sound familiar to many of you. After all, until six years ago she practiced optometry right here in Belmont with her mother, Dr. Linda Bennett.
Here are a few facts you may not know.
When Dr. Maida graduated from Belmont High School, she had no idea that she would one day settle down in her home town and start up her own optometry practice. She went to the University of Michigan, where she studied education and met her future husband, Mark.
After graduating, they returned to the Belmont area and she began to teach math at the then Chenery Middle School.
It was during this time that Dr. Maida realized her calling to follow her mother and grandfather into the field of optometry. After two years working as a teacher, she enrolled at the New England College of Optometry (NECO).
NECO helped her to discover that her love of teaching blended wonderfully with taking care of patients as she loves to educate people about their eyes.
In 2008, Dr. Maida joined her mother at her Belmont practice. Their strong mother daughter bond and business partnership made for an amazing combination that led to the expansion of the practice with offices in Belmont and Arlington.
Dr. Maida lives in Belmont with her family, which now includes her two teenage children and their dog, Blue. Maida is eager to get back to what she loves best about optometry: caring for her community with integrity and hands on customer service. She is excited to provide the highest level of vision care to the next generation of local families and old friends!

Meet our Office Manager, Claire Holmes

Claire Holmes
Claire Holmes is another familiar Belmont optometry face.
Despite spending parts of her formative years on a dairy farm in New Hampshire, Claire Holmes is a graduate of three Belmont public schools. It was during those years that Dr. Maida and Claire first met. After graduating from high school, she studied art education and painting at Pratt Institute and Massachusetts College of Art and Design.
By 2014, Claire had seven years of retail experience and seven years of single motherhood under her belt. She was tired of retail and wanted to show her daughter that there were more meaningful career options.
Claire’s older siblings had worked for Dr. Bennett in the past, and it only made sense that Claire join the team.
In the optical world, Claire has been able to combine her retail experience with her love of art and design to become a successful optical associate. Faces and spectacles are now her medium of choice. Claire prides herself on making sure that each patient leaves with a good understanding of what happened in their exam and what corrective eyewear will work the best for them, helping those who choose eyeglasses to select frames that will complement their facial structure and complexion.
Over the past 12 years, Claire has worn many hats in multiple practices: optical associate, optical manager, assistant manager, optical maven and practice manager. She lives in Belmont with her 19-year-old daughter and her two cats, Perseus and Astraea. Claire is happy to be back in practice with Dr. Maida, where she will be wearing even more hats and enjoying every one of them.
